The Chugeli Trail in Aeschi—small, charming, and built with heart. With complete creative freedom, our Chugeli track builders have crafted a wide variety of Chugeli tracks with great passion. For the landowners, tenants, builders, and Aeschi Tourism, this project is a first, and we are doing everything we can to resolve any existing issues as quickly as possible. Our Chugeli Trail runs close to the residents of Aeschi—often through agricultural land—and thrives on its simplicity, its closeness to nature, and the people who live here. Since we’re operating in such a confined space, it requires a great deal of goodwill and genuine cooperation from everyone involved. Inspired by the “major marble run trails” in Switzerland, we’ve created a wonderful experience for you—small, simple, and humble. We warmly invite you to stroll through our beautiful Aeschi with open eyes and a Chugeli in hand. Perhaps it is precisely this down-to-earth nature that makes the Chugeli Trail in Aeschi so special.
A heartfelt thank you to our Chugeli track builders and our landowners and tenants—it is only thanks to you that we were able to bring the Chugeli Trail in Aeschi to life!
It’s great that you’re getting the ball rolling! Because what awaits you over the next 2–3 hours (walking time only) on our approximately 4.7-kilometer-long Chugeli Trail is sure to awaken your playful spirit: 10 courses set against a beautiful natural backdrop (two additional Chugeli courses are located near the Chemihütte Restaurant and the Suld Inn). Starting at the “Schulhaus Aeschiried” PostBus stop, the walk takes you past stunning views and a nearby small barbecue area (accessible via a short detour) and ends at the village square in Aeschi. Grab the wooden ball and set off. It’s child’s play, but promises plenty of fun!
Here’s how it works: Right at the start, at the PostBus stop “Aeschiried Schulhaus,” grab a wooden ball from the vending machine. It costs five francs and can only be paid for in cash. You’ll find the corresponding hiking map for free in the PostBus kiosk next door. You can pick up both items during regular business hours at the Aeschi Tourism office or at the KIOSK Aeschi. Please do not bring your own balls, as the tracks are designed exclusively for our wooden balls. Then you’re ready to go: the first Chugeli track is located at the Chugeli Trail start on the playground next to the Aeschiried-Schulhaus bus terminal. From there, follow the road toward Suldtal for a short distance (past the Panorama Restaurant) as described on the map, then follow the “Chugeli Trail” hiking trail signs until you reach the last track at the Aeschi village square near the school. The Chugeli Trail mainly follows hiking trails, but some sections must be walked along roads.
We recommend traveling by public transportation (departing from Spiez at xx:38, PostBus Line 62), as the Chugeli Trail starts in Aeschiried and ends in Aeschi, and there are only a limited number of parking spaces available, which fill up quickly. If you do decide to drive to Aeschiried, please note that the bus from Aeschi back up to Aeschiried runs only once an hour (Aeschi b. Spiez, Post at xx:47), or you can hike the approximately 2–3-hour trail back to Aeschiried (allow even more time if traveling with children).
You’ll pass many animals and plants along the way. You’re also in an agricultural area and sometimes close to the residents of Aeschi—that’s why we’ve created a Chugeli Trail Etiquette Guide for you, to help ensure peaceful coexistence. Thank you very much for following these guidelines! Aeschi Tourism wishes you lots of fun!
