Suldtal Nature Reserve

The nature reserve is a little gem waiting to be discovered. The Suldtal valley is accessible from the beginning of May to the end of October. Along the bubbling Suld mountain stream, there are countless cozy picnic and barbecue spots that invite you to linger. Discover rare flowers, plants, and animals, and with a little luck, you may even spot one of the native golden eagles. On hot days, you can cool off in the cold mountain stream. You can use stones, pine cones, fallen leaves, and sticks to create fun mosaics or play games.

If you feel like it, you can treat yourself to a delicious ice cream at the Suld inn or play in the spacious children's playground. From July to October, a special bus runs from Aeschiried to the Sult inn, shortening your hike. You can get off at several stops along the way and find a cozy spot to play, romp, swim, and enjoy yourself. If it rains, you will find the perfect shelter at the covered Fuchsgrabenhütte barbecue area. There is also a toilet there.

Parking spaces are available in Aeschi village, Aeschiried near the school, at Gasthaus Suld, and at various locations between Aeschiried Schulhaus and Gasthaus Suld. The number of parking spaces is limited. The last possible parking payment point for the locations between Aeschiried and Gasthaus Suld is at the entrance to Suldtal.

The easy and beautiful hike from Aeschiried to the Suld inn takes about 1 hour. Along the way, you will find numerous picnic and barbecue areas. There is a covered fireplace at the idyllic Fuchsgraben hut in the Suld Valley, which is located approximately halfway between Aeschiried and the Suld inn, a walk of about 30 minutes. If you want to see the thundering Pochtenfall waterfall up close, take a short but steep 20-minute walk from the Suld inn (mountain hiking trail). If you enjoy longer hikes and are used to walking over rough and smooth terrain and steep uphill and downhill slopes, you can tackle the Pochtenfall circular trail (approx. 1.40 hours).

At Gasthaus Suld (open from May to October, closed on Tuesdays), you will find a spacious playground and a beautiful terrace where you can enjoy an ice cream. There are additional fire pits near the restaurant.

Public restrooms are located in Aeschi village next to the kiosk, in Aeschiried at the bus stop, at the Fuchsgrabenhütte, and at the Suld inn.
