Nature reserve Suldtal

Welcome to the “Suldtal”. In 1968, this romantic valley was declared a nature reserve. As such, it is a protected, unique area that requests on an environment-friendly tourism. We appreciate our visitors help in to maintaining the countryside intact. The valley is open to the public from the beginning of May until the end of October.

Public transportation (Suldtal-Bus)
The regular service for the “Post-Auto”  from Aeschiried-Suld (Restaurant Pochtenfall) – Aeschiried, runs on Saturdays, Sundays and general holidays from 30 June until 30 September 2018.
A one way ticket costs 5.00 CHF per person, no abonnement valid. For groups from 10 persons is a reservation required.

The nature reserve has a lot to offer: 


Hiking and biking

The romantic trail follows along the rapidly flowing stream. The time it takes (Aeschiried-Suld) is about 1 hour. From Suld, there are various trails on which to hike. Bikers can discover the great landscape allong the bike-routes. 

A paradise of nature

Blooming meadows, gorgeous woods, a resounding torrent, shy wild animals and birds, a pair of golden eagles, rare flowers and plants are for you to discover. 

A paradise of water

The main attraction is the waterfall (81 m high). It will make an unforgettable impression on you in the early spring with its cascade of melted snow from the mountains. You can arrive at the falls in approximately 15 minutes from the restaurant “Pochtenfall”. The duration for the “Pochtenfall tour” is approximately 1h and 10 min.

A paradise of recreation

There are several places where you can have a picnic along the stream “Suldbach” or you can visit the Restaurant “Pochtenfall”.

The homelike little tavern in the middle of the “Suldtal”, offers traditionally-cooked Swiss meals. There is a large terrace, children`s playground and a ballroom which can accommodate 80 people, ideal for family or birthday parties. More information

Botanical excursion in the Suldtal


You will be introduced to the beauty and the mysteries of the nature resort "Suldtal". On walks you will discover rare plants and animals. Your guide Niklaus Roder (Frutigen) will tell you many interesting things of our region.

- The way is quite steep and stony, so good shoes are recommended.
